On Saturday, November 21st, Family Center client families, Board members, Leadership Council members, volunteers and staff came together for an early Thanksgiving in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.  Client families and their children made special placemats prior to digging into a meal of turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings.  Afterwards, children made gratitude wreaths, filled with leaves stating what they were thankful for, which included everything from “my mom” to -what else- The Family Center!

This beautiful Thanksgiving event was hosted by the Leadership Council, which raised over $12,000 to cover the expense of feeding more than fifty clients.  There is still time to donate to the Leadership Council’s campaign!  Click the button below to support this group’s commitment to Family Center children and families.

And Family Center Thanksgiving festivities did not stop there!

A grateful family gets excited over their free Thanksgiving turkey from the Brooklyn DA and FPWA.

Thanks to the generosity of Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson’s office and the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies (FPWA), The Family Center received ten turkeys to donate to some lucky client families on Monday, November 23rd.  Receiving this free essential Thanksgiving ingredient delighted not only parents and caregivers, but also their children!  Along with our client families, The Family Center is grateful to the Brooklyn DA and FPWA for this generosity.

Truly, this Thanksgiving, The Family Center is thankful for all our supporters.  Thank you for your generosity and selflessness all year round!

As you sit down and give thanks with your family this year, please remember our client families.  Over 96% of them live below the federal poverty threshold.  You can click here to read what Thanksgiving is like for many of them on our blog, Family is Our Middle Name.  You’ll find it not only eye-opening, but also motivating -to give thanks!
