The Family Center maintains its longstanding commitment to producing new, innovative research on the needs of families affected by terminal illness, and to evaluating the effectiveness of program interventions designed for these families. We have conducted two large-scale studies funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. In addition, we have built a sizable database on the psychosocial and behavioral outcomes of several of our programs. Our research has been published in peer review and non-peer review journals, and has been presented at national and international conferences.
Our recent analyses have found that:
- In the first few meetings with staff, clients show evidence of their level of engagement that predicts their commitment to remaining in our program of services.
- HIV+ clients who use our clinical/psychoeducational services are more likely to complete a legally executable permanency plan for their children.
