The Family Center's mission is to strengthen families affected by illness, crisis or loss. Our social, legal and health services keep vulnerable NYC families stronger, longer. Harvest Ball 2018 honoring Aren LeeKong will support this work in the community.
Family Center programming ensures positive, sustainable outcomes for client families, including:
- After 18 months of Family Center services, all family members experience fewer hospitalizations.
- Family Center attorneys regularly win over 90% of cases, helping families avoid evictions and maintain benefits like food stamps. In 2017, they secured over $8M in settlements to clients and savings to taxpayers.
- Research shows that mothers are less depressed and homes are more intellectually-stimulating for children after Family Center interventions.
- The Family Center preventive child welfare program has achieved a less than 1% out-of-home placement rate: keeping children safe and healthy in their homes with their families.
