BLOOM 2011: Helping Lives Blossom –With Great Success!

BLOOM 2011 was another great success for The Family Center and our Leadership Council!

While guests enjoyed cocktails provided by VnC, or beer provided by Narragansett Beer and Radeberger, they perused BLOOM’s silent auction of luxury products and experiences, including everything from tickets to Broadway shows and baseball games to diamond jewelry and designer handbags. DJ Josh van Aalst generously donated his time to keep guests dancing before and after dinner.

Certainly the most moving part of the evening involved testimonials made by Family Center youth, who receive mentoring services through our Just Buddies program, which BLOOM benefits. Their speeches were so moving that many guests volunteered to be mentors on the spot. Family Center Executive Director Ivy Gamble Cobb also informed guests that the federal government recently cut funding to our Just Buddies program, so revenues from BLOOM 2011 are more important than ever before.

The Family Center is proud to announce that BLOOM 2011 raised over $80,000 to benefit Just Buddies. And there is still time to donate to BLOOM and support Just Buddies!

The Family Center Board of Directors, Leadership Council and all the children and families in our care are immensely grateful for the incredible outpouring of support that BLOOM 2011 received from the tri-state area community and beyond. We are especially grateful to our fiscal sponsors, including:
