Dr. W. Scott Melvin is a visionary leader whose extraordinary commitment to providing innovative and accessible surgical care, particularly to underserved communities in the Bronx, has transformed countless lives. He is Vice Chairman for Clinical Affairs, Division Chief of General Surgery, and Director of Advanced GI Surgery at Montefiore Einstein, specializing in gastrointestinal diseases, esophageal disorders, GERD, gallstones, and GI cancer.

As a firm, Davidson Kempner is committed to giving back to charitable organizations and driving impact in communities. Davidson Kempner’s partnership with The Family Center began in 2018, when Vikram Shankar joined our Board of Directors. Since then, the Firm has supported our annual toy drive, brightening the holidays for hundreds of families, as well as our Spring Soirée.

Lauren Glassberg
Master of Ceremony
Lauren is an Emmy-award-winning journalist who has been a member of the Eyewitness News Team since 2000. Before joining WABC TV, she anchored and reported at stations in Akron, Little Rock, and Minneapolis. She actually got her start in journalism as a teenager, reporting for the Main Street Wire, the newspaper on Roosevelt Island, NY. It was always her dream to cover her hometown of New York City.
She is primarily WABC TV's feature and lifestyle reporter. You can watch her restaurant features, called Neighborhood Eats, most Fridays during Eyewitness News at 5 p.m. She is also a frequent substitute anchor. Lauren is a graduate of Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism. She lives in Manhattan. Lauren served on The Family Center Board of Directors from 2010 through 2012. She has graciously served as Master of Ceremonies for previous agency events and we are delighted to welcome her back for our 2025 Spring Soiree!
Dan Krauth
Master of Ceremony
Dan Krauth is an award winning investigative journalist for WABC Eyewitness News.
Dan has received an Edward R. Murrow Award and multiple Emmy Awards for his reporting. His stories have included uncovering a growing threat to drinking water and exposing how much empty government buildings are costing tax payers. His series of stories into plastic surgery complications also led to changes in state law and also changed worldwide guidelines regarding how surgeries should be performed. Most recently his investigations helped improve the conditions for inmates and officers inside Rikers Island jail. In addition, he was the first in the Tri-State to expose how COVID-19 was disproportionately impacting inner city communities which caused city leaders to reallocate its resources.
Prior to joining Eyewitness News, Dan spent five years working at WTVJ in Miami as an investigative journalist. He also worked at stations in West Palm Beach, Grand Rapids and Fort Wayne. His first job in television news was a morning show producer for WREX in Rockford, IL. Dan grew up in suburban Detroit and graduated from the University of Michigan.
