Project Talk

In partnership with The Family Center’s Legal Wellness Institute, Project Talk offers comprehensive social services to individuals with breast cancer, survivors, and their families.

Our staff have expertise in managing illness and treatment, dealing with depression and anxiety, helping families talk about illness and death, and developing permanency plans for children. Our staff also provide support in managing concrete issues such as benefits our housing issues or connecting to specialized services for children or other family members.

These services are available in the home, in all five boroughs, and include the following:

  • Individual and Family Counseling, with specialization in in managing symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma, improving relationships and family dynamics, family transitions, self-care, and grief and loss

  • Patient navigation to help our clients understand and get the most out of their medical treatment

  • Case management and advocacy to ensure families have all the services and benefits that they need

  • Accompaniment to critical medical or other appointments

  • Legal assistance on family law, housing, lifetime planning and benefits matters

  • Recreational activities for families

Eligibility: Across the five boroughs of New York City, anyone living with breast cancer, including those in remission, will be eligible for social and legal services. We can also provide counseling and support to families with minor children who have lost a parent to breast cancer. Please call our intake line for details at 718-230-1379
