The 2026 Spring Soirée was an inspiring evening dedicated to celebrating those whose leadership, generosity, and advocacy continue to strengthen The Family Center’s mission!
This year, we were proud to honor Richard Osterweil with the Founder’s Award for more than 25 years of dedicated service to The Family Center’s Board of Directors. In a moving tribute, Richard was introduced by his former mentee Kevin, whose words reflected the lasting impact that mentorship can have on a young person.
We also recognized Cause Strategy Partners with the Advocate’s Award for their commitment to strengthening our agency by connecting TFC to strong leadership for our Board of Directors and Leadership Council. Cause Strategy Partners’ support not only advances The Family Center’s mission, but also champions our organization’s future growth.
Kiana “Katie O” Muschett-Owes was honored with the Sustainer’s Award for her continued dedication to nourishing community, most notably through catering TFC’s free community meal, “Thanksgiving for All: It’s the Brooklyn Way,” for two consecutive years, alongside her broader commitment to tackling food insecurity through her restaurant and nonprofit work.
The resilience of the clients we serve also took centerstage. Chamika, joined by her granddaughters, detailed her nine-year journey through family court before ultimately securing guardianship because of support from The Family Center’s Legal Wellness Institute. Together, these stories served as a reminder of the transformative power of showing up for one another.
