For over 30 years, The Family Center has provided New Yorkers with the legal, mental health, and social support they need to overcome challenges and build stability. Our holistic model addresses the needs of the whole person — helping children, families, and individuals stay safe, healthy, and connected to essential resources.

1. Meeting New Yorkers Where They Are
In 2025, The Family Center served 2,095 individuals across New York City affected by life-altering events, delivering holistic legal, behavioral health, and family support services to help people achieve stability and well-being.
2. Keeping Families Together
For the fourth consecutive year, 100% of children served through Support Services remained safely at home or were reunified with their biological parents, with no foster care or juvenile justice placements.
3. Life-Changing Legal Advocacy
The Family Center’s Legal Wellness Institute handled 1,059 cases, benefitting more than 1,600 New Yorkers, securing $1.41 million in direct financial benefits for clients and generating $1.44 million in cost savings to New York taxpayers.
4. High-Impact Behavioral Healthcare
The LeeKong Health & Wellness Institute delivered 4,614 clinical visits to 309 children, youth, and adults, expanding access to trauma-informed mental health care.
5. Responding to the Opioid Crisis
In response to the ongoing opioid crisis, The Family Center strengthened community-based harm-reduction efforts by conducting Narcan trainings and distributing life-saving medication to nearly 100 community members.
6. Strengthening Care Beyond Our Walls
Through the HIV Training Institute, The Family Center delivered 66 trainings to 1,127 participants statewide, strengthening service delivery for people living with HIV and Hepatitis C.
7. Nourishing New Yorkers
Amid rising food insecurity, The Family Center hosted Thanksgiving for All: It’s the Brooklyn Way for the second year in a row, bringing more than 600 individuals and families and neighbors together around a shared holiday meal rooted in dignity, care, and community.
8. Stabilizing Families in Real Time
The Family Center’s Parenting Journey program graduated an additional 30 caregivers across six virtual and in-person cohorts, expanding access to families through flexible participation options. Each cohort was intentionally designed as a small-group experience to foster meaningful engagement, skill-building, peer connection, and lasting change within the home.
9. Showing Up in the Community
TFC staff participated in more than 60 community outreach events across New York City and Long Island, strengthening partnerships and raising awareness of our services citywide.
10. Overcoming Together
Healthy Branches, The Family Center’s outpatient substance use clinic, provided over 1,500 services to clients, including medication management, peer support, and individual counseling sessions.
