Mourning the Loss of Judge Judith Kaye

Judge Judith Kaye

Judge Judith Kaye

The Family Center community was saddened to learn about the passing of Judge Judith Kaye.  In addition to her groundbreaking work as the first woman to lead the New York judiciary as Chief Judge, Judge Kaye was a long-time advocate for many marginalized communities and a beloved supporter of The Family Center.

The Judge Judith Kaye Project at The Family Center provides extensive civil legal representation  and counseling to hundreds of breast cancer survivors and thousands of their children.  Generously funded by the Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert, The Project was created in the Judge’s honor when she retired in 2008.

Judge Judith Kaye’s extraordinary legacy in the law and social justice will live on through her decisions, as well as infinite acts of fairness, consideration, and generosity.  The Family Center is proud of the role that our attorneys continue to play in upholding her values, and now, in memorializing her legacy.
