TFC Hosts LGBTQ Dinner Series

Florie at the Pride parade

TFC hosted its first LGBTQ Dinner Series gathering on Monday, August 15th at Prospect Park and it was a great inaugural summer picnic event!  Our LGBTQ Dinner Series is intended to create a space for those who identify as part of the LGBTQ community and are TFC clients.

The group on August 15th ranged in age, ethnicity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.  Discussions started with “get to know you topics” and also included attendees sharing personal experiences of loss within the LGBTQ community.  Other activities included exploring the lake nearby, viewing the urban wildlife, and eating cake to celebrate attendees’ with August birthdays.  Aside from the absence of bug repellent, there could not have been a better way to start this monthly event.

We hope to see this community grow within the next few months.  The next dinner will take place on Monday, September 26th at 6pm in TFC office at 493 Nostrand Ave. in Brooklyn. If you have questions about getting involved you can contact Douglas Moss at 718-230-1379 ext 112 or dmoss@thefamilycenter.org.
