Last night, May 10th, over 200 guests gathered at Union Square Ballroom to raise funds and celebrate BLOOM 2012 benefitting The Family Center Buddy Program, which matches adult mentors with vulnerable New York City children affected by family crisis and loss. In addition to enjoying the company, beverages and luxury silent auction items generously donated by BLOOM sponsors, guests were enthralled by Jacob, a 10 year-old mentee from Manhattan who spoke about his “Buddy and best friend” Richard and what his relationship with Richard means to him. The Family Center Board of Directors and Leadership Council hosts would like to thank Highbridge Capital Management and all BLOOM 2012 sponsors for supporting our work with children like young Jacob. You can still support The Family Center Buddy Program by making a donation here now!
Then, this morning, May 11th, The Family Center made an important step towards helping even more vulnerable children like Jacob when we signed a lease for a new Central Brooklyn space to house our mental health clinic, scheduled to open in September of this year! This new clinic will provide expert Family Center mental health services to 250 children and youth, and their families, annually. Click here now to support this important endeavor for the children of Brooklyn –and stay tuned for more exciting developments as we work to get The Family Center mental health clinic up-and-running!
