Recovery Month at The Family Center

From that first choice to receive treatment, to the decision made everyday to keep going, recovery is a bold, courageous, and commendable journey. At the Family Center, we want to celebrate all the brave people who’ve begun this work, as well as all those supporting them through it.

This month, we hosted our first Recovery Awareness BBQ for the community. We gave out free burgers, ice cream, massages, henna, merchandise, games, and more, all while providing resources on our many services. The event, pictured here, was a huge success, with crowds of all ages coming out to celebrate with us!

In addition to our BBQ, we’ve been hard at work with the launch of our free, open-to-all Narcan trainings! This country’s opioid crisis has taken hundreds of thousands of lives in the last few years alone. With this training, community members will be equipped, informed, and able to prevent another overdose. These trainings happen every Thursday at 5:30pm, and you can register at bit.ly/NarcanTFC.

And while recovery month might be ending soon, recovery certainly doesn’t – and neither do our slew of affordable substance use treatment programs. We offer:

  • Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), which uses medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapy, to treat substance use disorders. These medications (buprenorphine, naltrexone and other prescriptions) help mitigate cravings and/or  change the effect of the substance.
  • Substance use counseling , which provides professional therapy, at an affordable cost, to help patients overcome substance use disorders. Note that we offer both individual and group counseling and therapy.
  • Support & therapeutic groups like Anger Management, Bereavement, Coping with Stress, etc., which provides safe spaces to share, listen, and collectively work together to achieve our goals.
  • Psychiatric evaluations and medication management, which helps patients receive the appropriate care and treatment that they need.
  • Medical case management, which facilitates the recommended treatment plans to ensure that our clients receive the appropriate medical care they need.
  • Childcare (for children whose parents are receiving services), so that patients can receive treatment without worrying about their kids.

None of this would be possible without YOUR help. To support The Family Center’s work, donate here! THANK YOU for your ongoing care.
