Alantheia and Team TFC Race for the Cure

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect on Sunday as the TFC Pink Ladies and Gents gathered in Central Park to Race for the Cure. For many years, The Family Center has received much-needed funding from The Greater NYC Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to serve breast cancer survivors and their families in Central Brooklyn where low screening and detection rates have led to significantly poor health indicators related to this illness.

Family Center Board Member and breast cancer survivor, Alantheia Pena, gave a speech at Survivor Village before the race and had the honor of meeting Judge Judy and other high-profile Komen Greater NYC supporters. Alantheia also spoke with the news crew from NY1 and marched in the Survivor Parade.

Kenyon Cory from Korn/Ferry International volunteered to lead TFC’s team of almost 20 participants to raise over $1,000 for local breast health education, screening and treatment programs and national research to find the cure. The Pink Ladies and Gents, made up of staff, family, friends, and volunteers, were proud to walk/run alongside thousands of other New Yorkers and survivors.

The Family Center’s goal is to work with Komen Greater NYC to support these local breast cancer survivors with legal and social services to help keep New York families stronger, longer.
