Kohl’s Associates in Action celebrate their fabulous job sorting toy donations.
On December 16th and 17th, scores of Kohl’s Cares most incredible Associates in Action came to The Family Center to sort mountains of generous donations made to our Annual Toy Drive. In three shifts over the course of two days, Kohl’s Associates waded through piles of over 3,000 gifts, including everything from building blocks to basketballs to books.
With The Family Center’s limited space, we were concerned about making room for all the toys and presents. Kohl’s Associates in Action came to the rescue by creating what retailers call an “in-aisle display” which makes the job of selecting gifts for our children and teens much easier for our social workers, attorneys and other direct service staff.

Kohl’s made our partnership so much sweeter with a campaign called ‘Pennies from Heaven’ which the retailer’s NYC office launched in an effort to raise funds, as well as manpower, for The Family Center. Kohl’s Associates contributed loose change and made other generous donations. They raised over $2,500 with different staff units competing against others to see who could raise the most. With these funds, The Family Center can help at least 30 more families celebrate the holidays with presents and festivities.
As Kohl’s Associates are outstanding when “in Action” and the ‘Pennies from Heaven’ campaign was wildly successful, The Family Center knows for sure who are our holiday angels this year: Kohl’s Associates, of course!
